THE ECO-EDUCATORS

LANDMARKS was selected and funded by the Canadian federal government as a premier project to mark Canada’s 150th year. This project, sponsored by TD Bank, invited people to creatively explore and deepen their connection to the land through a series of contemporary art projects, presented in and around Canada’s national parks and historic sites.

LANDMARKS, designed by Charles Bongers at CB+Co, was a Canada 150 art initiative inviting Canadians to explore land and identity in parks and historic sites.

DESIGN CHALLENGE: To create brand strategy and brand identity design that focuses the artistic efforts of a select group of Canadian artists and curators around a message of inspiring the public to become closer to the nature of our land.

Working with a team of leading Canadian curators, contemporary artists and OCAD educators, we were charged with strategically defining the collective purpose of this historic project and using design to create a common visual thread throughout the nine individual art projects. The design intention was to present brand identity with a contemporary feel while embodying the importance of nature and extraordinary locations to the Landmarks story.

LandMarks Canada 150 – Strategic Design for a National Art & Conservation Campaign

CB&Co Brand Design was selected to lead the strategic branding and visual identity for LandMarks2017 / Repères2017, one of Canada’s flagship cultural initiatives for the Canada 150 celebrations.

Presented by Parks Canada and funded by the Government of Canada, the campaign invited people to explore their connection to land, history, and identity through contemporary art in national parks and historic sites across the country.

We developed a bilingual brand system that unified over 100 interdisciplinary artists and 16 universities under a single, accessible identity—grounded in land-based storytelling, cultural inclusion, and public engagement.

Our Work Included:

  • Brand strategy, naming, and positioning

  • Bilingual visual identity and logo design

  • Communications and event collateral

  • Web, print, and wayfinding design

  • National campaign rollout and toolkits

The LandMarks brand helped amplify Indigenous voices, youth perspectives, and community-led stories—creating a legacy of public art, education, and conservation awareness across Canada.

CB&Co partners with cultural institutions, environmental agencies, and public organizations to deliver impactful branding rooted in place, identity, and purpose.
